Technology Progress

Introducing BitVM2

Introduced the GOAT BitVM2 architecture and a public “BitVM2 Playground”, detailing the end-to-end peg flow (bridge-in, bridge-out/proof prep, kickoff, challenge, assertion/verification, final settlement). The design centers on zkVM proofs checked via Bitcoin script and an optimistic challenge process with explicit slashing incentives to make incorrect claims economically unviable.

Q1 2025 | GOAT Network 0.2.3 went live

Released a mandatory node upgrade containing critical security fixes, explicitly referencing upstream CometBFT security advisories, and published updated snapshot artifacts to help operators resync safely.

Q1 2025 | BitVM Groth16 verifier optimizations 1: Bilinear maps

Published a technical primer on bilinear pairings (definitions, pairing types, and cryptographic uses) to establish the math required for understanding and reducing Groth16 verification cost in constrained verification environments.

Q1 2025 | BitVM Groth16 verifier optimizations 2: Miller Loop

Explained the role of Miller Loop in pairing computation and surveyed concrete optimization levers (e.g. precomputation, windowing, curve choices, and related techniques) aimed at lowering the computational footprint of pairing-based verification.

Q1 2025 | BitVM Groth16 verifier optimizations 3: Final Optimizations

Proposed verifier-side reductions that avoid expensive steps by switching from final exponentiation to residue checking using an auxiliary witness, and by verifying line coefficients rather than recomputing lines - cutting complexity for pairing-equation verification.

Q1 2025 | Alpha Mainnet went live

Launched Alpha Mainnet positioned around decentralized sequencers and multi-asset staking, enabling users to stake BTC (L1), BTCB, or DOGEB into sequencers to earn BTC-denominated yield, alongside an initial dApp ecosystem and BTC/BTCB/DOGE bridging flows via the “One Piece” onboarding path.

Q2 2025 | BitVM2 Testnet went live

Shipped the first permissionless BitVM2 testnet and described how GOAT Network extends baseline BitVM2 toward a zkRollup-like bridge by addressing operator failure modes and incentives, reducing the challenge time window significantly.

Q3 2025 | Launched zkRollup Economic Model

Released an incentive framework for Bitcoin-native rollup roles, unifying sequencer/prover/challenger responsibilities under a rotating “Universal Operator” and adding a multi-round challenge process with randomly assigned challengers and slashing to cut the time to finality significantly.

Q3 2025 | Real-Time proving

Demonstrated a pipelined proving architecture on the BitVM2 beta testnet using a distributed prover network powered by Ziren (zkVM), reporting concurrent proof timings (block proofs ~2.6s avg, aggregation ~2.7s, Groth16 ~10.38s) to prevent prover lag from becoming a throughput/withdrawal bottleneck.

Q3 2025 | Ziren 1.2.0

Announced Ziren v1.2.0 as a GOAT-aligned zkVM upgrade emphasizing interoperability and developer workflow: compressed-to-Groth16 conversion, a no-std STARK verifier, expanded network prover features, new CLI scaffolding, and additional primitives (e.g. Poseidon2/AES-128 support for garbling use cases).

Q4 2025 | BitVM2-GC

Introduced BitVM2-GC using verifiable garbled circuits and a DV-SNARK verifier implemented in Ziren to reduce challenged-withdrawal on-chain data, claiming ~1000× lower on-chain fraud-proof data, minimal off-chain storage among known BitVM2 designs, and sub-hour proving with low reported cost.

Q4 2025 | Bridge Launch Progress

Activated a native cross-chain bridge, enabling BTC, BTCB, DOGE, and GOATED to enter GOAT Network through a trust-minimized Ziren-based mechanism, significantly improving overall cross-chain interoperability.

Q4 2025 | Osaka Upgrade

Completed integration with Ethereum’s Fusaka hard fork and merged a newer go-ethereum release, alongside economic-parameter tuning intended to lower transaction fees and improve long-term sustainability, with an upgrade package spanning scaling/performance, security, feature, and RPC changes.

Throughout 2025 | Continuous Development Across Open Source GitHub Repositories

Maintained steady progress across open-source repositories, including bitvm2-node, bitvm2-gc, and dogecoin-bridge, reflecting continuous engineering iteration and active infrastructure development.

Yield & Products

GOAT Network is the first native Bitcoin zkRollup to implement a sustainable yield mechanism. Through three key innovations — in-house zkVM (Ziren), an efficient BitVM2 based verification mechanism that keeps real time proving and operator rotation anchored to Bitcoin, and the first decentralized Sequencer network on Bitcoin, it has built a long-term usable Bitcoin Layer 2.

At the core of this system is an economic model that turns usage into revenue and revenue into yield, reinforcing itself over time.

Economic Model and the GOAT Flywheel

GOAT Network’s economic model operates as a flywheel that converts on chain usage into sustainable Bitcoin yield. Each increase in network activity expands fee generation and value capture, which flows back to users and infrastructure participants, attracting more usage and compounding the economic loop over time.

This flywheel is powered by three primary profit sources which generated by the real activities on GOAT Network.

  • BTC gas fees generated by every transaction executed on GOAT Network and settled in Bitcoin.
  • Mining rewards from block production earned by operators participating in the decentralized sequencer set.
  • MEV generated through transaction ordering, bundling, and block construction at the sequencer level.

The following video walks through how these three revenue streams interact in practice, showing how on chain activity is converted into verifiable Bitcoin yield and redistributed across the network.

Universal Operator Model

BitVM2-based Bitcoin zkRollups rely on multiple critical roles, including Operators, Sequencers, Provers, and Challengers. These roles have asymmetric costs and incentive structures, which makes sustainable operation difficult. GOAT’s Universal Operator Model consolidates these responsibilities into a single set of staked operators that rotate across roles over time. This structure balances costs and rewards, aligns incentives through slashing, and reduces role fragmentation. By unifying execution under a shared operator set, the model lowers participation barriers, strengthens decentralization, and enables efficient, production-ready operation of the network.

Introduce the video Why GOAT Network’s Yield Holds Up Under Pressure, which examines how this operator structure maintains yield stability and security under real network stress, not just ideal conditions.

Ecosystem Highlights

Expanded BTC activity and capital utility across the GOAT Network ecosystem

Activation of BTC into productive use cases

Multiple protocols in the GOAT Network have created interconnected pathways for Bitcoin holders to put their assets to work instead of keeping them idle. Users can activate BTC assets through protocols such as Artemis Finance, Sumer, Pell, and StableJack, allowing engagement in lending markets, looping strategies, and access to structured and volatility-aware yield profiles that make BTC more dynamic on chain.

Reduction of onboarding friction through improved bridging solutions

Bridge infrastructure has matured to support smoother and more accessible cross-chain entry points for users entering GOAT Network with assets. BTC, wrapped BTC (BTCB), DOGE, and GOATED can now flow into the network with broader wallet compatibility and fewer steps, increasing overall liquidity and lowering the practical barriers for new users to participate.

Predictable native yield for long-term holders

Time-locked yield products have been introduced to provide predictable BTC income for holders who prefer a stable return profile. Yield generated from on-chain economic activity such as transaction fees and sequencing rewards is distributed through mechanisms that reward long-term engagement, offering BTC holders defined yield curves without relying on inflationary token incentives.

Introduction of BTC native perpetual markets

Derivatives infrastructure has grown to include perpetuals markets that settle in BTC, offering traders and liquidity providers new tools for risk management and market exposure. GOATUP Perpetuals enables BTC-centric trading strategies that complement existing yield and liquidity products and deepen trading activity across the network.

Cross-chain stablecoin mobility and composability

Stablecoin flows have been extended through integrations with cross-chain protocols that allow assets to move between GOAT Network and other chains. Enhanced cross-chain composability supports more flexible use of stable assets, improving capital efficiency and aligning the GOAT ecosystem with broader multi-chain financial flows.

Launch of the 34 BTC Pilot Fund to fuel ecosystem growth

We also established a 34 BTC Pilot Fund, marking the first time a Bitcoin Layer-2 network deploys its own BTC reserves to support ecosystem liquidity, community incentives, and developer contributions. The fund has already allocated over 2 BTC to community rewards and liquidity pools, and plans for a larger ecosystem development fund in late 2025 are underway to further expand support for sustainable innovation, grants, and long-term builder rewards.

Strengthened community engagement and participation incentives

Community participation has become a structural driver of ecosystem growth through programs that reward active engagement. Incentives for social participation, content creation, on-chain activity, and ambassador contributions help align user engagement with protocol development, supporting a feedback loop where community growth fuels further network expansion and utility.

GOAT Foundation

Formal establishment of the GOAT Foundation reflects a strategic decision to provide long-term coordination, governance support, and ecosystem leadership for GOAT Network. The foundation exists to ensure decentralized sequencer operations, builder and user incentives, revenue distribution mechanisms, and on-chain governance processes operate transparently and sustainably as the Bitcoin ZK Rollup ecosystem continues to mature. By anchoring resources and institutional support within an independent entity, GOAT Foundation aligns incentives across developers, node operators, users, and partners while supporting continuous innovation within the broader Bitcoin ecosystem.

Founding date and purpose

GOAT Foundation was officially announced in September 2025 as the organizational body responsible for guiding the growth of the Bitcoin ZK Rollup ecosystem and supporting the launch of the native network token, GOATED. Core responsibilities include coordinating ecosystem incentives, enabling decentralized participation, and overseeing governance processes that allow users and builders to contribute directly to the network’s long-term evolution.

Token Generation Event (TGE) and the role of GOATED

The GOATED was introduced alongside the foundation as a core utility and governance asset for the network. Approximately 10.43 % of the 1 billion total supply became tradable at the Token Generation Event in late September 2025, providing initial liquidity and market access. GOATED functions across multiple dimensions of the ecosystem, including staking or locking to enhance BTC yield rates, rewarding developers and users, influencing sequencer participation, and enabling governance rights such as proposal submission and voting.

Token distribution

GOATED’s token distribution is designed to balance early activation with long-term sustainability:

Exchange listings and market access

GOATED has been listed on multiple centralized exchanges at or shortly after launch, expanding global access and liquidity. Confirmed venues include Binance Alpha, Gate, MEXC, Crypto.com, providing early trading infrastructure and market participation. Additional liquidity has been observed across decentralized venues tracked by major market aggregators, further supporting token accessibility.

The establishment of the GOAT Foundation represents a critical step toward formalized governance, aligned incentives, and long-term sustainability for the GOAT Network. Ongoing support from the foundation is expected to reinforce adoption, strengthen infrastructure development, and accelerate the expansion of Bitcoin-native applications.

A future GOATED listing on Kraken would further broaden institutional reach and global liquidity, and remains something to look forward to as the ecosystem continues to mature.

Community Growth

GOAT’s community showed notable expansion in participation, content output, and on-chain engagement throughout 2025.

Throughout the year, the team and the community grew together through constant interaction and shared execution. Ambassadors and contributors played a direct role in onboarding new users by creating guides, answering questions, and supporting first-time on-chain interactions across regions. Regular AMAs and open community calls created space for two-way communication, while Discord and social channels became active feedback loops where user input informed campaign design, product iteration, and community tooling. Ongoing exchange across these channels aligned progress on both sides and strengthened trust across the ecosystem.

Consistent month-long social engagement with Yapper incentives. We ran monthly Yapper airdrop programs over a continuous 12-month cycle, with six completed months to date and approximately 3,000 active Yapper participants engaging in high-quality social contributions and earning on-chain rewards. Yapper incentives helped boost broader social interaction and content creation around GOAT’s BTCFi narrative.

Global ambassador engagement through GOAT Vanguard. The GOAT Vanguard Ambassador Program held two recruitment rounds and received over 2,500 applications, onboarding 70+ ambassadors globally. Ambassadors served as reputation anchors and brand advocates, producing content, hosting events, guiding local communities, and seeding early adoption across regions.

One Piece on-chain campaign series. The One Piece campaign series ran multiple seasons of on-chain challenges, task completions, point accumulation, and reward mechanics that translated participation into future token and ecosystem incentives.

Season 1: 625,992,309.60 points distributed, 41374 participants

Season 2: 182,868,325.00 points distributed, 73814 participants

Season 3: 930,254,082.33 points distributed, 34133 participants.

Over 2 BTC in incentives were distributed through on-chain tasks and staking reward activities.

Season 4: ongoing. Tasks included cross-chain bridging, game interactions, swaps, and liquidity tasks that drove deeper ecosystem interaction and point earning toward future GOATED rewards.

Knowledge contribution and user-generated content. Community members produced 3,000+ tutorials, explainers, and usage guides covering BTCFi flows on GOAT Network, helping users navigate everything from bridging to yield mechanics and tactical participation in campaign systems.

NFT initiatives and on-chain reward mechanics. We also expanded NFT engagement with utility-driven collectible releases and marketplace support that tied on-chain participation to long-term benefits:

  • GOATible NFT Marketplace launch

Partnered with Rarible to launch GOATible, a multichain NFT marketplace live since April 7, 2025, providing infrastructure for minting, trading, and exploring NFT collections tied to the ecosystem.

  • GOAT Pizza NFT

In celebration of Bitcoin Pizza Day, GOAT Network released the Bitcoin Pizza NFT that allowed holders to receive airdrop access to project tokens from GOAT Network launches, qualify for long-term rewards based on holding duration, and trade freely while keeping eligibility for future perks.

  • Happy Birthday NFT utility

Holders of the earlier Happy Birthday NFTs received a +20 % point bonus on campaign point accruals, stacked with referral bonuses in community challenges, increasing their potential rewards in seasonal activities.

NFT ownership under GOAT’s frameworks became both a cultural collectible and a utility instrument that unlocked bonus participation mechanics, enhanced on-chain reward potential, and eligibility for future ecosystem incentives.

Community growth activities helped connect on-chain behavior with social output, expanding both awareness and practical participation across GOAT Network’s BTCFi ecosystem.

Global Tour & Local Engagement

2025 was a year on the road for GOAT Network. Here’s how it unfolded.

It started with a simple goal: show up where the Bitcoin and Web3 conversations actually happen — and contribute in a meaningful way.

Throughout 2025, GOAT Network became part of the world’s leading industry gatherings, sponsoring major conferences across regions and ecosystems.

ETHDenver 2025. BTC Las Vegas. BTC Asia. Korea Blockchain Week. BTC MENA.

Each stop added new conversations, new perspectives, and new relationships.

But it wasn’t only about being present — it was about creating spaces for real connection.

We also hosted our own events, designed for builders, partners, and community members to meet beyond the conference floor.

From GOAT Social Denver, to a high-energy GOAT Social with DJ SODA, to the GOAT Global Tour spanning Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Chengdu, San Francisco, Hanoi, Seoul, and HCMC — every city had its own story.

Along the way, smaller moments mattered just as much: private dinners in Vietnam, deep conversations, ideas exchanged late into the night — the kind that don’t happen on main stages. GOAT Network also stepped into the spotlight to share its perspective, with speaking slots at:

BTC MENA

Korea Blockchain Week

BTC Asia

By the end of 2025, it wasn’t about the number of events — it was about the people met, the trust built, and the ecosystem strengthened along the way.

And the journey continues. 🐐🌍

Looking Forward

2025 was a year of deliberate choices for us. We chose structure over noise, real utility over hype, and long-term alignment over short-term cycles. Rather than moving fast for the sake of speed, we focused on building things the right way.

As we move into 2026,  our team remains grounded in Bitcoin-native infrastructure, sustainable economic design, and a global community that has grown through real usage, shared learning, and participation. The foundations laid this year were intentional and measured—built not for a single moment, but to last across cycles.

We believe time is the ultimate test of any system. That belief continues to guide how we build GOAT: prioritizing durability, verifiability, and long-term relevance over temporary momentum.

We’re deeply grateful to the community, users, and partners who made this progress possible. As 2026 begins, it will be real usage, meaningful contribution, and a shared commitment to Bitcoin-native infrastructure that shape what comes next.

If you believe in the long-term future of BTCFi, and in the way we are building it, we invite you to build with us.
